- 2006
Michael McCrary is remembered as one of the best players on one of the best teams in Wake Forest football history.
As a defensive lineman on Wake Forest's 1992 Independence Bowl championship team, McCrary was a second-team All-ACC selection. That fall, he set the school's single-season record for sacks (16) and tackles for loss (24). McCrary remains the school's career leader in sacks (30) and is second in career tackles for loss (46).
After earning varsity letters in three seasons for the Deacons, he was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the seventh round in 1993. McCrary played in Seattle for four years before moving to Baltimore. The native of Vienna, Va., made two Pro Bowls as a member of the Ravens (1998-99) and helped the team win Super Bowl XXXV. McCrary retired after the 2003 season and was inducted into the Baltimore Ravens Ring of Honor.
