WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The fourth-ranked Wake Forest men's soccer team used a strong second half to defeat the Charleston Southern Buccaneers 5-1 Tuesday night at Spry Stadium.

Sophomore Jamal Seale scored the first goal of the night at the 33:44 mark off assists from Jaron Barbee and Andy Rosenband. Seale's goal was the only goal of the first half as Wake took its 1-0 lead to halftime.

The scoring picked up in the second half with Rosenband increasing the Wake Forest advantage to 2-0 with a goal at the 64:28 mark in the game. Erkki Palokangas cut the lead to 2-1 with his goal 71:03 into the game. Freshman Bobby Gehring then broke the game open with two goals, the first coming at the 76:33 mark and the second at 77:47, to give the Deacons a 4-1 advantage. Freshman Adam Hakes scored the game's final goal at the 89:14 mark to make the final score 5-1.

With the win, Wake Forest improves to 11-0-4 on the season, while Charleston Southern drops to 8-6-3 with the loss.

The Deacons will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 30 when they take on the North Carolina Tar Heels in the final home game of the 1999 season. Gametime is set for 7 p.m. at Spry Stadium.
