COACH CALDWELL
ON GETTING THE GAME PLAN IN
"No, we don't really have the game plan in yet. We'll use the rest of this week for preparation to kind of get all that ironed out. We've certainly
had a chance to look at them on film from throughout the year. We traded
film with them 11 for 11. We probably both can get a feel for one another that way. Today is the first day of two-a-days. We'll have two today, tomorrow and Thursday. That's when we'll get the bulk of our game plan in."
ON THE TIMING OF THE GAME
"The numbers (television) are pretty impressive for our game on that day.
Primarily because there aren't many sporting events on that day. There are
only three football games on that day. It certainly does give us a chance
to get some great exposure."
ON PRACTICE
"In terms of our practice for the most part we've been working on
fundamentals. But we took an entire week off for finals. Of course the team
did some conditioning and lifting. But we had to get them back in that
practice routine. That's what the two-a-days are geared for. We're more or
less trying to get back in football condition."
ON PLAYING IN THE BOWL GAME
"We're very excited. There is a lot of excitement around this department,
school and team and obviously around the community as well. We haven't
heard very many complaints about practicing this time of year. When you're
practicing this time of year, there's usually something good going on. It's
a great benefit for us to get a few more practices under our belt."
ON ASU'S QUARTERBACK SITUATION
"We're not real sure which quarterback they'll play. Obviously, losing a
quarterback would cause some problems for you, but they've had time to get
a guy ready. Whoever it is is going to be a good player, because they are a
team with a lot of talent."
ON ASU IN GENEREAL
"J.R. Redmond is superb. He runs extremely well. He's got good balance, good
vision and power. He has all the attributes that you look for in an
outstanding back. They have a good corp of receivers. They are a talented
team. On defense, Erik Flowers is a guy that is 6-5, 253, and can he run?
Their defense overall is one that has a lot of speed, so they're going to
present a lot of challenges for us.
We feel that, for the game, we don't forsee a drastic change from them
schematically. Certainly, they've had time to put some new things in and so
have we."
ON PLAYING A WEST COAST TEAM
"I don't think there's much difference. They've all got good players. The
only difference you might see is if there was a drastic schematic
difference that you don't see much around here. And the same with them as
they prepare for us. We probably don't present them with anything they
haven't seen before."
ON WHAT THE BOWL GAME MEANS TO THE PROGRAM
"Obviously, having a winning record was key for us this year. We moved
forward. It is certainly a sign of our program moving forward. In terms of
this ballgame, there is a big difference between 6-5 and 7-5. It gives us
another opportunity to get a another win against a real good football team.
There a good, tough football team. It's going to be a great game. It is
important for us to win. I love the location of the game. It's a neutral
site and they don't really have an advantage although they're two time
zones closer.
WAKE FOREST'S DUSTIN LYMAN
ON ARIZONA STATE IN GENERAL
"They look pretty impressive, just from the films. I don't think their
record indicates how good they are. I've been impressed with J.R. Redmon.
They have a good deal of speed on offense. Their offensive line is big and
athletic, which you don't find too often. Other than their starting
quarterback being hurt, I don't see too many weaknesses. They've been up
and down this year. If they get a couple of those 80-yard touchdowns on
you, they can run up the score pretty quick."
ON THE IMPORTANCE OF THE GAME
"There is a big difference between 6-6 and 7-5. There's no way we'll get in
the top 25 going 6-6 and losing a bowl game. But there's a slight chance at
7-5 that we could sneak in there and I think that would certainly be an
accomplishment. Right now we're focusing on winning the game and not really
on the implications. We haven't really talked about it. But it would be
silly to think it's not in people's minds.
WAKE FOREST'S KELVIN MOSES
ON COMING BACK FOR HIS SENIOR SEASON
"I am excited that I came back. It's paying off now. It was not a hard
decision to come back. I was looking forward to coming back. I came to this
school playing football and I wanted to leave it playing football."
ON THE SEASON
"I started the season a little slow. One of my goals was to get better each
week and I met that goal. I was rusty at the beginning, but by the middle
of the season, I was back to making the plays I knew I could make."
ON PREPARING FOR ARIZONA STATE
"There is no fear in my heart. To me, it is just another football game even
though we haven't seen them before. I just love playing football. To play
against an explosive offense like that is exciting."
