WINSTON-SALEM, N.C (AP) -- Wake Forest, playing its second game in three days, faces intrastate opponent High Point at home Friday.
The No. 25 Demon Deacons (6-1) beat UNC-Greensboro 71-62 Wednesday. Darius Songalia scored 18 points and Robert O'Kelley scored all 10 of his points in the second half as Wake Forest rebounded from a one-point loss to Georgia.
The Deacons shot 47 percent from the field but missed 12 free throws. O'Kelley shot just 2-for-8 from the field after scoring 39 points in his last two games.
"While we're pleased to win the basketball game, we're certainly not satisfied with the way we played," Wake Forest coach Dave Odom said. "I think Greensboro had a little to do with that because they were very well prepared. I thought they played extremely well."
High Point (5-1), of the Big South Conference, defeated Erskine College 75-68 last Saturday. Brooks Lee scored a season-high 24 points for the Panthers.
Australian forward Geordie Cullen is averaging team highs of 21.2 points and 9.3 rebounds per game while shooting 58.1 percent from the floor for the Panthers. Derek Van Weerdhulzen, Mantas Ignatavicius and Anthony Jackson are also averaging double figures in points for High Point.
High Point begins a stretch of seven of eight games on the road. The Panthers will play at Florida and Jacksonville before heading west to take on San Diego State, UNLV, Fresno State and UC Irvine.
Wake Forest leads the all-time series with High Point 10-1. Friday's game will be the first meeting between the schools since a 40-26 Wake Forest win during the 1945-46 season.
