Bill Haas Signs To Play Golf At Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Bill Haas, son of PGA Tour star Jay Haas and nephew of current Wake Forest head coach Jerry Haas, has signed a national letter of intent to play golf at Wake Forest next year. He becomes the third member of the Haas family to play golf for the Demon Deacons, after his father and uncle.

Haas boasts an impressive junior golf resume, having earned Junior All-America and South Carolina Junior Player of the Year honors in 1999. He won both the 1999 South Carolina High School State Championship and South Carolina Junior Boys' Championship, shooting 73- 70 in each event to take medalist honors. He then went on to win the 1999 Carolinas Junior Championship, carding an impressive 71-66-67 score. Haas also finished second at the 1999 American Junior Golf Association's Polo Junior Classic in Orlando, losing in the final round of match play, 3 and 2. In 1998, he won the AJGA Greensboro Classic (69-70-73), while placing second at the Junior Azalea (68-69) and third at the AJGA Polo Junior Classic (69-72).
