Capone Eliminated from NCAA Golf Championships

CHASKA, Minn. - Wake Forest senior Michael Capone shot a 6-over par 78 in the second round of the NCAA Men's Golf Championships today and was eliminated from the competition after 36 holes of play at the Hazeltine National Golf Club.

Capone, who was representing Wake Forest as an individual in the event, had a 36-hole total of 155 (+11), putting him in a tie for 81st place in the 156-man field. Of the 30 teams and six individuals competing in the 72-hole event, only the top 15 teams and the top nine individuals not on those qualifying teams advanced to the final two rounds of play. Capone was six strokes behind the last individual to make the cut at 5-over and was 14 strokes off the current individual leader, Northwestern's Luke Donald (-3).

In team competition, Clemson currently leads the field with a 36-hole total of 590, or 14-over par.
