SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Wake Forest senior MICHAEL CAPONE (Cranston, RI) fired back-to-back rounds of 68 on Friday to stand tied for the individual lead at the Wofford Invitational golf tournament after two rounds. Capone, who shot 35-33 in the morning and 36-32 in the afternoon, stands at 8-under par after 36 holes of play. He shares the tournament lead with Jedd McLuen of the College of Charleston, who also shot 68-68.

As a team, Wake Forest carded rounds of 292 and 291 for a 36-hole total of 583, or 7-over par. That score puts the Demon Deacons in eighth place in the 13-team field; however, only eight strokes separate Wake from the team leader, Virginia Commonwealth (-1). VCU currently holds a slim one-stroke lead over both Virginia and Furman, who are tied for second place at even-par.

Sophomore RYAN PEIFFER (Winston-Salem, NC), playing in just his second tournament of the spring season, stands in 22nd place at 2-over par after recording consecutive rounds of 73 on Friday. Junior JAMIE GALLACHER (Surrey, England) shot a 74 and a 76 and places 37th in the 69-man field at 6-over. Senior OSCAR SANCHEZ (Canary Island, Spain) is currently 41st at 7-over after carding a 77 and a 74, while senior CRAIG INMAN (Marietta, GA), playing in his first varsity collegiate event, stands 65th at 19-over after shooting 78 and 85.

The tournament is being contested on the 6,765-yard, par-72 course at the Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, S.C. Final round action continues on Saturday morning.
