Men's Golf Finishes Eighth At Golf Digest Collegiate

LAS VEGAS - Sophomore Jamie Gallacher fired a 69 on the final day of play at the Golf Digest Collegiate on Sunday in Las Vegas, NV to lead the Wake Forest men's golf team to a team score of 297 and an eighth place finish.
Virginia won the team competition with a three day total of 855, the Deacons were 29 strokes back at 884. Virginia's James Driscoll won the individual title with a nine-under-par score of 207, one stroke ahead of New Mexico's Doug La Belle.
Gallacher finished the event tied for 36th place and was the only Deacon able to post a sub-70 round during the tournament. Senior Ryan Gioffre was Wake Forest's top finisher as he ended the tournament tied for 11th place after putting rounds of 72-70-73 together to finish one-under-par.
Wake's Michael Capone finished with a total score of 224 after carding a 77 on Sunday. He was tied for 39th while teammate Ray Floyd, Jr. shot an 80 and finished tied for 56th with a tournament total of 227. Todd Lynch shot a 78 on the final day and totalled 227 to tie for 63rd place.
Wake Forest's next tournament will be the Cuscowilla Intercollegiate in Eatonton, GA on March 23-24.
