Men's Golf Finishes Seventh at Cuscowilla Intercollegiate

EATONTON, Ga.-- The Wake Forest men's golf team shot a 288 in the third and final round of play to finish in a tie for seventh place at the Cuscowilla Intercollegiate golf tournament, played on the 6,718-yard, par-70 course at the Cuscowilla Golf Club in Eatonton, Ga.

North Carolina fired a tournament-best round of 273 (7-under par) on the final day to jump from third to first place, winning the team title by six strokes. Clemson and Georgia Tech, who were tied for the team lead after two rounds, finished second and third, respectively. UNC also captured the individual tournament title, as Tar Heel Ross Bain shot a 5-under 65 in the final round of play to jump seven spots and win by three strokes.

Wake Forest senior Todd Lynch (Winston-Salem, NC/North Forsyth) finished in a tie for 25th place at 8-over par after shooting a 72 on the final day. Senior Ryan Gioffre (Greensboro, NC/Greensboro Day) and sophomore Jamie Gallacher (Surrey, England/Bradfield College) finished in a tie for 28th place at 9-over, shooting 71 and 75 in the final round, respectively. Senior Ray Floyd, Jr. (Miami Beach, FL/Miami Country Day) shot a team-low 70 in the third round to finish tied for 33rd at 10-over, while junior Oscar Sanchez (Canary Island, Spain/Leadbetter Academy-FL) shot a 75 to finish in tied for 49th at 19-over.

The Deacons are next in action April 3-5 at the PING Intercollegiate in Cary, NC.
