Men's Golf Team 10th at Golf Digest Collegiate

LAS VEGAS, NV--Seniors Ray Floyd, Jr. and Ryan Gioffre along with junior Michael Capone opened the Golf Digest Collegiate with rounds of 72 to lead the Wake Forest mens golf team to a score of 291. The Deacons are in 10th place, 13 strokes back of first round leader Clemson.
All three players are tied for 16th place, seven strokes back of Clemsons Jonathan Byrd. Byrd fired a 65 and holds a two stroke advantage over New Mexicos Doug La Belle and Arizona States Darren Angel heading into the second round.
Perhaps the biggest turn around of the day came from Wake Forest senior Todd Lynch. Lynch shot a 42 on the front nine, but came back with a 33 on the back nine to round out the scoring for the Deacons. Lynch is in a tie for 44th place. Wakes final player, sophomore Jamie Gallacher, posted a score of 76 and is tied for 55th place.
The second round of the tournament will be played on Saturday at the Desert Inn Country Club in Las Vegas.
