RADFORD, Va.-- Junior forward Greg Krauss scored a pair of goals to lead Wake Forest to a 3-1 victory over Radford in a men's soccer contest at Dedmon Center Stadim on Tuesday night.
Krauss took a centering pass in the box from sophomore forward Ben Stafford and put the ball into the net to give the Deacons a 1-0 lead 17:55 into the match. The Highlanders answered with a goal by Scott Hance five minutes later, however, and the teams went into halftime knotted at one. Stafford gave the Deacs the lead for good with a blast from 18 yards out in the 70th minute, and Kruass iced the win on an unassisted score with 2:34 left in the match.
Wake Forest (4-1) outshot Radford (3-2-1) by a 13-8 margin and held a 6-4 edge in corner kicks. The Deacs' Sean Conner made four saves in net, while RU's Sacha Drouin had five.
Wake Forest hosts No. 4 Virginia in the teams' ACC opener on Saturday, September 19th, at 7:00 pm.
