Men's Soccer Falls to Duke

DURHAM, N.C. - The Duke men's soccer team, ranked No. 3 in the country, broke a tie midway through the second half and moved on for a 3-1 win over No. 18 Wake Forest on Wednesday evening.
With the victory, Duke's record moves to 12-1 overall and 3-1 in the ACC. Wake Forest drops to 8-3-1 on the year and 1-1-1 in the conference.
Duke began the scoring early in the contest as senior All-America Jay Heaps found the left side of the goal just 1:16 into the game, assisted by juniors Matt Mayock and Peter Gail. Following the intermission, Wake Forest managed to tie the score as Skip Jenkins snuck behind the Duke defense and knocked a shot past Blue Devil senior goalie Atli Knutsson at 53:06. Brock Hilpert was credited with the assist.
Heaps broke the tie with the eventual game-winning goal at 60:43 off an assist from freshman Kevin Sakuda. Junior Troy Garner added his seventh goal of the year for Duke at 74:46, assisted by Gail, to give the final margin.
Duke has now won seven-straight matches against Wake Forest dating back to 1992.
