Wake Forest Announces 1998-99 Men's Basketball Schedule

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest's 1998-99 basketball schedule, which includes the earliest opening date in school history, was announced today by the Atlantic Coast Conference.
The Demon Deacons will meet Illinois in the opening game of the "Coaches versus Cancer" tournament in Madison Square Garden on November 10th. Other teams in the two-day event are Temple and Georgetown.
That opening contest against the Illini is one of 22 regular season Deacon games that will be televised, including 12 that are scheduled on national networks (ABC, ESPN or ESPN2).
Wake Forest's non-conference schedule also features a matchup with Arkansas on December 23rd in Joel Coliseum and a trip to Salt Lake City to meet last year's NCAA runner-up Utah on December 28th.
The Deacons open ACC play at Maryland on December 3rd, then face 15 consecutive league opponents beginning with a home date against Virginia on January 2nd.
