KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The 19th-ranked Wake Forest women's golf team recorded a team round of 311 to stand in seventh place after the first round of play at the Mercedes-Benz Women's Collegiate Championships. The 54 hole event is being contested at the 5,985-yard, par 72 layout of the Gettysvue Polo, Golf & Country Club in Knoxville, TN.

Joining Brenny in the tournament's top 20 is junior Kelly Kirwin (Grand Rapids, MN/Grand Rapids) who is part of an eleven-player logjam in 18th place at 40-37=77.

Following Brenny and Kirwin in the field are sophomore Marta Prieto (Sevilla, Spain) at 39-40=79 and senior Kristen Wagner (Martinsville, IN/Martinsville) at 32-47=79, both of whom are among four players tied for 36th place.
