CLEMSON, S.C.--Stacy Roeck, for the second consecutive game, scored the winning goal for the Deamon Deacons in the 5-0 win over LSU in the third game of the ACC/SEC Women's Soccer Challenge at Clemson, SC Saturday afternoon. Roeck's goal came at the 4:09 mark early in the first half.
With the win, Wake Forest improves to 7-3-1 overall, while LSU drops to 4-5-2 this season.
Stacy Roeck began the scoring for the Deamon Deacons early in the first half when Anne Schropshire sent a corner kick into the box and Roeck headed it in for what would be the game-winning goal for the the Deacons.
Rachel Parri scored the second goal of the game when she went in unassisted to give the Deamon Deacons a 2-0 advantage at the 39:48 mark of the first half.
Anne Schropshire struck :13 seconds into the second half when she scored her third goal of the tournament at the 45:13 mark. She was assisted on the play be Stefanie Mathews.
The Deamon Deacons continued their scoring spree when Christie Melby scored at the 55:48, putting the Demon Deacons up 4-0. Melby was assisted on the play by Sarah-Kate Noftsinger and Parri.
Susan Nettleback ended the scoring in the 86th minute when she went in unassisted and scored, putting the Demon Deacons up 5-0.
For the tournament, Stacy Roeck scored two goals and assisted on one to earn five points over the weekend. The Demon Deacons also got three goals and an assist from Anne Schropshire.
Clemson will play Kentucky at 7:00 Saturday evening to conclude the weekend tournament.
