Women's Soccer Rallies to Beat Duke

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - No. 21 Wake Forest scored four goals in the second half to rally from a 1-0 deficit and claim a 4-1 Atlantic Coast Conference victory over visiting Duke on Sunday afternoon at Spry Stadium. With the victory, Wake Forest improves to 9-3-1 overall and 2-1 in the ACC. Duke falls to 6-8 and 0-4 in league play.
Duke jumped on the scoreboard first at the 9:27 mark in the first half when Sherrill Kester scored from 12 yards out off a pass from Emily Feeney, giving the Blue Devils a 1-0 lead at the half.
Wake Forest rallied to take the lead when freshman Emily Taggart scored two goals in the span of one minute and 31 seconds. Taggart tied the score at 1-1 at 54:15 and tallied the game winner at 55:46, giving the Deacs a 2-1 lead.
Freshman Stacy Roeck gave Wake Forest a 3-1 lead when she scored off a Sarah Kate Noftsinger corner kick at 75:44 and sophomore Rachael Lewis provided the final goal at 87:31 when she scored on a penalty kick. The Demon Deacons return to action on Friday when they host NC State at 7 p.m. at Spry Stadium.
