Demon Deacons Earn ACC Tournament Eighth Seed

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C - The Wake Forest women's basketball team earned the eighth seed in the 1999 Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Basketball Tournament via coin toss and will face seventh-seeded Maryland in the first round on Friday, February 26, at 6:00 pm at Independence Arena in Charlotte, N.C.
The Demon Deacons finished the regular season at 7-19 overall and 3-13 in the ACC to tie for seventh place in the standings with Maryland (6-20, 3-13). Although the two teams would face each other anyway in the 7/8 game, a tiebreaking procedure was used to determine which team would be No. 7 and which would be No. 8. The two teams split their regular-season meetings and owned identical records against the other conference teams, so a coin toss was employed, which Maryland won. The Wake Forest-Maryland winner will face No. 2 Virginia in the quarterfinals on Saturday at 3:30 pm.
