WINSTON-SALEM, N.C--Wake Forest sophomore forward Olivia Dardy (Norwalk, CT/Brien McMahon) has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference's Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Monday. It is the first such honor of Dardy's career, and the first time a Demon Deacon has been so chosen since the 1996-97 campaign.
Dardy led Wake Forest to its first ACC win in nearly two years, collecting 17 points and a career-high 15 rebounds in the Demon Deacons' 65-47 victory at Maryland on Sunday afternoon. She shot 65 percent from the floor (7-of-11) and accounted for nearly one-third of the team's 48 rebounds on the day. She also added three assists and a block to her performance. Dardy shared the weekly honor with Virginia's DeMya Walker.
The win snapped a 17-game ACC regular-season losing streak for the Deacs and gave second-year head coach Charlene Curtis the first ACC win of her career. Wake improved to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in the conference with the win.
Dardy currently leads Wake Forest in both scoring (12.3 ppg) and rebounding (8.8 rpg) and rates as the ACC's second-leading rebounder overall.
