WINSTON-SALEM -- Wake Forest has received "Honorable Mention" honors from the American Football Coaches Association in its 1998 survey of graduation rates for all Division I-A schools.

Wake Forest was one of 24 institutions which were recognized for having graduated over 70 percent of their freshmen that entered school in the fall of 1992. Only two other ACC schools, Duke and Virginia, were in that category.

This marks the seventh time in the last eight years that the Demon Deacon football program has been recognized for its graduation rates. In 1995, Wake, Duke and Boston College tied for the top spot in the country.

Northwestern University, which graduated all 20 of its 1992 freshmen, received the AFCA's "Academic Achievement Award" for having the nation's best graduation rate in this most recent survey.
