Women's Soccer Topples UNC Charlotte, 4-2

Charlotte, N.C. - Freshman Sarah Kate Noftsinger scored two goals to lead 21st-ranked Wake Forest to a 4-2 victory over UNC Charlotte on Thursday evening in Charlotte.
With the victory, Wake Forest improves to 8-3-1 while UNC Charlotte falls to 9-3.
Sophomore Christie Melby got the Demon Deacons on the scoreboard first at the 22:01 mark in the first half when she scored on a header off of Anne Shropshire's corner kick. Shropshire scored off a rebound at 29:39 to give the Deacs a 2-0 lead at the half.
UNC Charlotte answered at 61:38 when Cori Ray scored to cut the lead to 2-1, but Noftsinger scored at 69:23 and 75:37 to put the game away. Shropshire finished the evening with a goal and two assits while Stefanie Mathews recorded two assists.
The Demon Deacons return to ction on Friday when they host Duke in the 1998 home opener at Spry Stadium at 2 p.m.
