Head Coach Jim Caldwell Quotes
"Coming off last week's game, we felt that we certainly got a little bit better in some areas, but we didn't show enough improvement to get us a win. We're making some progress, but we hopefully will get some guys back that have been bumped, bruised and injured. Overall, this game coming up is extremely important to us. Both teams are obviously dying for a win. They've got a good squad, a great defense - certainly better than their record shows."
On Anthony Young
"For a young guy he did a nice job for us. He came in under some difficult circumstances. We anticipated red shirting him and we had to put him into action with (CJ's injury). He was able to come in and add a spark for us. He's obviously a guy with a lot of talent and he runs real well. He has a lot of poise and fortunately, we had an opportunity to take him out a couple of series (against Virginia) so that he could look and see what we're doing out there. He actually twisted his back when he was trying to extend the ball into the end zone but he was able to practice a little bit yesterday. Today, we will probably give him a little bit more action in terms of throwing the ball around. I fully expect him to play for us on Saturday. He is young and inexperienced. Some of the things that we have done with James MacPherson and C.J. (Leak), we certainly would not require him to do. We want him to go out and play hard and not worry about too many things. He's pretty decisive in terms of making up his mind when to get out of there (the pocket)."
On Jon Helms
"Jon's not on scholarship at this point, but he played probably 15-20 plays last Saturday - so he's making a contribution. He's a guy that just hangs in there and fights. He's getting better all the time and we're certainly happy to have him."
On Virginia's running game
"Antwoine Womack has speed, power, balance and great vision. He is an extremely effective guy, but the thing that surprises you is how quick he is. His vision is impeccable. He follows his blocking extremely well and sets it up well. He breaks many tackles and can get out of them up the field. He is very patient and he accelerates when given a crease. He's awfully dangerous and explosive."
