Two Demon Deacons Selected To All-ACC Soccer Teams

Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Atlantic Coast Conference announced its first and second teams on at its championship banquet on Wednesday night. Two Wake Forest players, Ben Stafford and Aaron Thomas, were among the 22 players named to the conference's first and second teams.

Stafford, a senior forward from Signal Mountain, Tenn., was named to the first team after netting 16 goals in 17 games. That total ranks him second in the ACC in goals, seventh in the nation. Earlier this season, Stafford became Wake Forest's second leading scorer in history.

Thomas, a sophomore midfielder from Downingtown, Pa., was a second team selection. Thomas, Wake Forest's captain, has played every second of the season and has scored three goals.

Stafford and Thomas lead the Demon Deacons into battle at the ACC Tournament beginning Thursday at Spry Stadium on the Wake Forest campus. The fifth-seeded Deacons will play in the third quarterfinal game of the day with kickoff against Clemson scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
