WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Wake Forest men's basketball team has been invited to the National Invitation Tournament, marking the 10th consecutive year that Demon Deacons have been selected to a postseason tournament.
Wake Forest (17-14) will play at Vanderbilt (19-10) in the first round of the event on Tuesday, March 14th at 7:30 p.m. EST. The game will be televised nationally by ESPN2.
Tickets are availably by contacting the Vanderbilt ticket office at 1-877-44VANDY.
"Coming out of the ACC Tournament, I was very proud of our team after they gave every ounce of energy they had," said Wake Forest head coach Dave Odom. "Our team deserves to play again, and playing in the NIT gives us that opportunity.
"The teams that do the best in this tournament are the ones that are the most excited about playing. I know that our team is playing very good basketball right now, and it is the job of our coaching staff to make sure that the players are excited with this opportunity.
"I couldn't imagine a more difficult opening assignment. We have to go on the road to face a very good Vanderbilt team with very little practice and preparation. All we can do is just go play."
The winner of the Wake Forest-Vanderbilt game will play the winner of the New Mexico-South Florida contest next Monday or Tuesday.
