WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest sophomore quarterback C.J. Leak, who suffered a dislocated left knee in a game at Clemson last Saturday, will have surgery on Tuesday.
Leak's surgery will take place at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C. Dr. Larry Higgins of Duke and Dr. David Martin of the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center will perform the surgery.
"C.J. has remained very upbeat through this entire ordeal," head coach Jim Caldwell said.
"That's the type of kid he is. He's a warrior and he's a leader of this team."
Following the surgery, Leak will return home to Charlotte (N.C.) for the rest of the fall semester, taking a medical absence from Wake Forest. He will return to school when classes resume in January. Academically, Leak entered this semester well ahead of schedule in terms of credit hours accumulated.
Leak, a graduate of Charlotte's Independence High School, completed 30 passes for 339 yards and two interceptions through the first three games of the season. He earned his first career rushing touchdown Sept. 9 against North Carolina.
Wake Forest has an open date this week before returning to action Sept. 30 against Virginia in Groves Stadium.
