The Deacs (3-3-1) are coming off a 2-2 tie with seventh-ranked South Carolina at home on Saturday.
The Wildcats defeated Air Force, 1-0, in Colorado Springs, Colorado on Friday.
The teams have had one common opponent thusfar -- South Carolina. As mentioned, the Deacs tied the Gamecocks over the weekend. Davidson dropped a 3-2 decision to South Carolina last Wednesday.
Series history: Wake and Davidson
The Deacs and 'Cats are more than familiar with each other. The teams have played every season since 1981, the longest such streak for Wake.
Over the years, Wake Forest has held the upper hand, leading the all-time series 14-4-1.
The Deacons have won the last two games by a combined score of 9-1.
Last year's contest at Spry Stadium, a 5-0 shutout by Wake, was played in a gullywasher, the remnants of Hurricane Floyd.
When asked about their most memorable games at Wake Forest, many players have identified the '99 Davidson game for its treacherous weather conditions.
Jamal Seale, Jaron Barbee, Greg Krauss, Victor Litovka and Bobby Gehring scored the goals in that game for the Deacons.
On the Road Again: Wake takes third straight mid-week trip
Wake Forest is getting to know its bus drivers. This is the team's third consecutive mid-week road trip.
Last Wednesday, the Deacons hit the beach before whitewashing UNC Wilmington 4-0.
On Tuesday Sept. 12, then-fifth-ranked Wake was upset by Liberty, 4-2, in Lynchburg, Va.
The road trip trend dead ends this week, however. The Deacons will not have a game between Sunday contests with Maryland (Oct. 1) and NC State (Oct. 8).
Everything's Coming Up Roses
Sophomore forward Andy Rosenband missed the team's first four games with injury but has come back with a vengence. He came off the bench against UNC Wilmington last Wednesday and scored two goals in the Deacons' 4-0 win over the Seahawks. On Saturday against South Carolina, "Rosie" started the Deacon comeback, scoring the team's first goal off a rebound less than a minute before halftime.
A Programming Note
The home game against Maryland this weekend has been changed to Sunday to avoid a conflict with the Deacon football game. Kickoff at Spry Stadium is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday.
