Three Deacons Named To All-Tournament Team

STORRS, CT---Three Wake Forest men's soccer players were named to the Bob's Stores/UConn Classic All-Tournament team on Saturday after the team posted a 1-1 record over the weekend.

Senior Ben Stafford led the way for the Deacs, scoring three goals over the weekend, including two in the win over fourth-ranked Connecticut.

Sophomore midfielder Aaron Thomas also made the all-tournament team after scoring the game-tying goal that sent the St. John?s game to overtime.

Rob Vartughian was the only goalkeeper named to the all-tournament team. He made 16 saves in two games, including three consecutive saves >from point-blank range in overtime to help the Deacs upset the Huskies.

Wake Forest returns to Spry Stadium for the home opener on Friday against UNC Greensboro. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m.
