- Freshman quarterback Anthony Young is the first true freshman to start at quarterback for Wake Forest since 1978 when David Weber started the last seven games of the season.
- Another freshman, offensive lineman Tyson Clabo, got his first career collegiate start in place of the injured Deacs Michael Collins and Marcus Kisner at right guard.
- Antwoine Womack's 40-yard touchdown romp for Virginia in the first quarter was the longest scoring run against the Deacs so far this season.
- Sophomore offensive lineman Blake Henry, a transfer from Northwestern, saw his first action in a Deacon uniform late in the first quarter.
- Sophomore James MacPherson saw his first action this season and first as a Wake Forest quarterback when he entered the game on Wake's third drive of the game late in the first quarter. On his first series he completed three of four passes for 42 yards as the Deacs scored a field goal on the drive.
- Senior wide receiver Chris Modelski recorded his first catch of the season, a 13-yard reception for a first down in the third quarter.
- Sophomore defensive end Calvin Pace recorded two sacks for minus 14 yards on Virginia quarterback Dan Ellis. Pace now has three sacks on the season. Senior linebacker Nick Bender also recorded two sacks on Ellis for minus 17 yards - his second and third sacks of the season.
- Senior defensive end Bryan Ray recorded his 31st career tackle-for-loss in the fourth quarter, giving him sole possession of sixth place on Wake Forest's all-time tackles-for-loss chart. He was previously tied with Dred Booe who recorded 30 TFLs from 1990-93.
- Quarterback Anthony Young finished with 102 yards rushing, the best rushing performance for a Deacon since Morgan Kane had 224 against Georgia Tech last season.
