Winston-Salem, NC - Brian Carroll scored twice to lead Wake Forest men's soccer team to a 3-0 shutout win over Old Dominion on Saturday night at Spry Stadium. The victory extended the Demon Deacon unbeaten streak to six games.
Wake Forest (8-3-1) drew first blood in the 28th minute of the game on Carroll's second of the season. After a corner kick, the Monarchs (6-4) couldn't clear the ball from the penalty area. Aaron Thomas fed the ball to Carroll who fired a laser from 25 yards out. Thomas and James Riley earned credit for assists.
Midway through the second half, Jeremiah White added to his ACC-leading goal total with his ninth of the season with an assist to Scott Sealy. The pair worked together in the penalty area to carve up the Monarch defense.
Two minutes later, the Deacons put the game on ice with Carroll's second of the game. Riley picked up his second assist on the play.
Sophomore goalkeeper William Hesmer posted his fourth shutout of the season making three saves. Hesmer and the Deacon defense have allowed just two goals through their last 456 minutes of action dating back to the Maryland game.
The Demon Deacons continue their eight-game homestand at Spry Stadium on Wednesday night against Davidson at 7:00 p.m.
