Five Television Appearances Highlight Women's Basketball Broadcast Schedule

Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's basketball team will have at least 18 of its games broadcast - on television, radio or internet - during the 2001-02 season. The broadcast schedule features at least five television appearances on various regional networks in addition to several radio broadcasts on local radio station WBRF. Fifteen regular-season games, plus any post-season contests, will also be broadcast via the internet on the official site of Wake Forest athletics, www.WakeForestSports.com.
The television schedule includes appearances on Comcast Charter Sports South when WFU travels to Birmingham, Ala. to face UAB on Nov. 24, on Connecticut Public Television when the UConn Huskies visit Winston-Salem on Nov. 24, and on Sunshine Network in Florida when the Deacs take on FSU in Tallahassee on Feb. 9. Additionally, Wake Forest will host two ACC TV contests - versus North Carolina on Jan. 21 and Maryland on Feb. 24 - to be broadcast on Fox Sports Net South and Sunshine Network. Both games will take place at the Joel Coliseum Annex.
The 2001-02 season marks the first season of Wake Forest women's basketball on the flagship station of WFU athletics, WBRF 98.1 FM. Beginning with the Nov. 19 season opener against Appalachian State at home, play-by-play announcer Carter Blackburn and color analyst Roper Halverson will broadcast at least eight games on WBRF this season. All of Wake Forest's ACC Tournament games as well as any post-season tournament contests will be carried on WBRF as well.
