Coach Grobe Quotes From Weekly Press Conference

Opening Remarks:

"We have put ourselves in a position to give ourselves a chance. As a coach you like to see your kids play their best football in November."

"Anthony practiced last night but I don't know if he will be full speed by Saturday. It was nice to have him practice. It gives us a little relief that we won't have to put in Jax Landfried in at quarterback."

On playing high profile Georgia Tech:

"It might be a more high profile opponent than I would like to see. They are number one total offensive team in the conference and number one total defensive team in the conference. It will be a great challenge for us but we are playing good football right now and I think it will be great for our fans."

"They had 18 starters back and have one of the best quarterback in the league. They lost three heartbreakers. Two overtime games. They haven't certainly won as many football games as they wanted to win."

"I told them last night in practice that statistically they are the best in the league. We will have to play better than we have played all year to win. We will need a greater effort on Saturday. There are a lot of great players on Georgia Tech's team for us to win we are going to need to play at a high level."

"If we lose this football game it is not that we don't think we can win."

On win over North Carolina:

"The feeling we had at North Carolina was special. You don't get that feeling with just any type win. When you play a rival that is an important win. When you win the way we did, down 24-0 and come back and win late, those are the special wins you never forget. I know our players and coaches will never forget that. The way we won and made the locker room electric."

On the team performing at their best:

"The thing I like about this football team is that they are driving me crazy. I look on the other side of the field and I think we don't match up. But once we start playing we look better than in pre-game warm ups and that's what makes you feel good as a coach. You look around and say, we are getting about as much out of our kids as we can. I would like to say it is great coaching but in reality the kids came out and responded well."

On getting a good first half:

"They had the great first half performance against Duke but I think it is hard to get four good quarters out of a football team. I think the bottom line is winning and losing and find a way to win. We have been able to do that most of the time Florida State is the only one we got blown away in. We feel pretty good about where we are."

On feelings on the victory over UNC:

"It's been a great week, but now we need to put it behind us. We had the weekend to celebrate, but now we need to get ready for a great team in Georgia Tech."

"It's the best feeling to win, especially on the road. You take that long trip out there and the on the trip back everyone's happy. It's a great feeling."

On the second half comeback:

"We haven't put the whole game together, but we've been able to stay in there. We've been able to do what we have to do to win the game."

"It's all about the attitude the coaches bring to the program. Coach Grobe, he's a fighter. The attitude they've brought to the program is what's changed things around."

On the UNC game:

"Its hard to keep the victory out of your mind. You don't want to keep the win in the back of your mind. We enjoyed the win Saturday night and Sunday, but Monday was back to work as usual. You can see [confidence] in the guys' eyes. There is a swagger about us. It feels good to know we can come back from being down 24 points [against Carolina] and Virginia and close out the games."

On Georgia Tech:

"They are a real good team. It will be a slugfest, a real battle. We are going to strap on helmets and beat our heads, and at the end of the game we'll see the scoreboard at the end of the game. We have to take care of number one, first. It won't be an easy task. We know we have to play Tech first."

On the season:

"I can't really explain it. Its been such an emotional ride. We've been through some ups and downs. But, someone has always been there to pick us up and lift us up. Moose came back this week and has really lifted our spirits. Its great to have one of our brothers back. The season has been a blast, and we hope to keep it going."
