* A win today gives the Deacons: - a 6-5 record
- a winning season for the second time in three seasons and third time in 10 seasons
- eligibility for a post-season bowl game
* Today's game captains for Wake Forest are #98 Tyler Ashe, #75 Mike Moosbrugger and #52 Marquis Hopkins.
* Senior Ira Williams recorded his first touchdown pass of the season when he caught a 14-yarder from James MacPherson in the first quarter. Williams was Wake's top returning receiver entering the 2001 campaign, but has been used sparingly in the second half of this season after missing five of the first six games due to various injuries.
* Quarterback James MacPherson threw two touchdown passes today, marking the first time this season he's thrown more than one TD toss in a game. Entering today's game he had thrown three touchdowns for the entire season.
* Sophomore running back Fred Staton recorded his seventh touchdown of the season on a two-yard run just before the half.
* Running back Tarence Williams recorded his 17th career touchdown (10th of the season) on a 12-yard run in the third quarter. He also posted his ninth career 100-yard rushing game, going over the century mark in the third quarter. He passes Morgan Kane on Wake' career 100-yard games list, and is one of just four players in school history to record at least nine 100-yard games.
* Tarence Williams also became the eighth player in Wake Forest history to record 1,000 rushing yards in a season, finishing the day with 140 yards to give him a season total of 1,018 and a career-to-date total of 1,729 yards.
* Senior John Stone recorded his 10th career touchdown when he scored on a 13-yard reverse in the third quarter. Stone has six rushing, one receiving and three kickoff return touchdowns in his career.
