Winston-Salem, NC -- The Wake Forest men's soccer team announced that Justin Moose of Statesville, N.C., has committed to play for the Demon Deacons. Moose is graduating from Statesville High School a semester early and has enrolled in January classes at Wake Forest. He immediately becomes eligible to participate in practice during the upcoming spring semester.
Moose, a 5-foot-6 midfielder, is one of the most decorated prep players in the country. He was an ODP All-American in 2000 and a member of the U.S. National Team pool. Moose has played for the Region III team since 1996 and has traveled to Argentina, Spain, Gibraltar and Bermuda with the squad.
At Statesville High School under coach Rick Morrison, Moose was a three-time All-State selection. He was the conference and county player of the year as a sophomore, junior and a senior.
Moose led his club team, the Charlotte Soccer club, to three straight North Carolina championships.
Moose also lettered in track two years, participating in the high jump. He chose Wake Forest over Furman and South Carolina plus three of this year's Final Four participants, Stanford, St. John's and North Carolina. His parents are David and Jeanie Moose.
Moose joins a Wake Forest team that returns 10 starters from the squad that qualified for the NCAA Tournament team in the fall with a 13-6-2 record.
