Wake Loses To No. 21 North Carolina State

Winston-Salem, NC - The Wake Forest women's basketball team dropped a 69-35 contest to 21st-ranked North Carolina State on Thursday night at Lawrence Joel Coliseum. The Demon Deacons fall to 11-12 on the year and 3-9 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
"I'm really pleased with the way we were mentally focused before the game. Our patience was good and we were ready to play," NC State coach Kay Yow said.
Wake Forest was unable to get on track offensively, shooting 21% for the game. Ten different players scored for the Deacs who were led by LaChina Robinson's seven points off the bench.
"NC State is an excellent defensive team. We were not in a right frame of mind to handle that well. We started taking shots that just weren't there," Wake Forest head coach Charlene Curtis said.
Wake Forest fell victim to NC State's torrid shooting. The Wolfpack shot 53% in the first half and 48% for the game. They were led by Carisse Moody's game-high 20 points and 10 rebounds.
"Our game plan was to not let Moody get the ball, but she did, and when she did she scored," Curtis said.
"Carisse is a player that we know where she is all the time. The inside-out game is important and we try to be very balanced," Yow said.
Moody said the most important factor in NC State's win was beginning with defense.
"We have to establish ourselves defensively first, and then offensively. We had a goal to get offensive rebounds and we were able to do that tonight," Moody said.
The Demon Deacons will try to bounce back on Sunday against Clemson at Joel Coliseum. Tip off is slated for 1:00 p.m. and the game will be televised on Regional Sports Networks.
