Deacon Free Safety Ruled Ineligible

WINSTON-SALEM -- Wake Forest University senior free safety Michael Clinkscale was ruled ineligible for the 2001 football season, head coach Jim Grobe confirmed today.
Clinkscale, who was expected to contend for a starting position in the Wake Forest secondary, failed to meet NCAA academic requirements.
A three-year letterwinner, Clinkscale played in all 11 games, including nine as a starter, last season. He broke up six passes, recorded two interceptions and 47 total tackles during the 2000 season. Clinkscale's career numbers include 25 games played, 62 total tackles and three interceptions.
