CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.- - The University of Virginia women's basketball team picked up a 65-51 win over Wake Forest at University Hall on Sunday afternoon.

Virginia improved to 9-7 overall and 2-3 in ACC play, while the Demon Deacons fell to 7-9 overall and 1-5 in the Conference.

"Our focus the last few days was to get back on track defensively," UVa head coach Debbie Ryan, whose team had dropped its previous two outings, said.

In the first half,Virginia jumped ahead by eight points at 12-4. But Wake Forest managed to keep it close, as UVa led at the break by just six points, 33-27.

In the second half, Wake Forest tied the game at 38-38 with 13:10 to go. UVa then went on a 11-0 run as the Demon Deacons suffered a five-and-a-half minute scoring drought. The Cavaliers went ahead by as much as 18 to put the game out of reach.

Cavalier freshman Brandi Teamer paced the team with her sixth career double-double of 17 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. Senior Telisha Quarles added 16 points. Freshman Lynette O'Reggio came off the bench for a career-high four blocks.

"She was a concern coming into the game," Wake Forest head coach Charlene Curtis said of Teamer. "Her versatility is a huge, huge plus. She's a handful."

Tonia Brown was the sole Demon Deacon in double-digit scoring. She finished with 18 points, including four three-pointers. LaChina Robinson led the rebounding effort with eight boards.

Overall, Wake Forest held the rebounding edge, 37-32.
