Men's Soccer Ties Tar Heels, 2-2

Chapel Hill, N.C. - No. 1-ranked Wake Forest and North Carolina played 110 minutes of soccer on Saturday night at Fetzer Field in Chapel Hill with nothing decided as the teams played to a 2-2 double overtime tie.
The Demon Deacons are still unbeaten on the season with a 10-0-4 mark, a 3-0-2 record in the ACC. Wake Forest maintains its hold on first place in the conference. The Tar Heels move to 10-5-1, 2-2-1 in the ACC.
Wake jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Justin Moose scored at the 17:26 mark off an assist from Scott Sealy. Sealy took the initial shot, which was saved by UNC keeper Ford Williams, but the ball trickled right to Moose, who had an easy look at the UNC net.
For Moose, it was his third goal in as many games at Fetzer Field. The freshman from Statesville scored two goals earlier this season in the UNC Classic against Akron and Saint Louis.
The Tar Heels evened the score on a header by Ryan Kneipper at the 29:07 mark. Defender Tim Merritt brought the ball up from the back with a run into the Wake defensive third. Merritt passed it to Ray Fumo, who fed Kneipper for a goal from point-blank range. The game was tied 1-1 at halftime.
Wake took a 2-1 lead at the 71:34 mark when Brian Carroll took a pass from Ryan Alexander and drilled a beautiful, left-footed shot from 20 yards out at the top of the box.
Less than five minutes later, however, Logan Pause tied the game at 2-2, taking passes from Kneipper and David Testo and scoring from 12 yards out in the left half of the Wake keeper's box.
The Deacs return home to play Gardner-Webb on Tuesday night. Wake Forest wraps up its ACC slate next weekend at Duke.
