Winston-Salem, NC - The Wake Forest men's soccer team earned another number one ranking when Soccer America released its top 25 poll on Monday evening. The Demon Deacons are the top-ranked team in the country for the second straight week. Soccer Times lists Wake Forest as its number one for the second straight week.
Wake Forest defeated Elon last Wednesday 3-1 to get head coach Jay Vidovich his 100th career victory. On Saturday, the Deacons tied defending national champion North Carolina 2-2 in Chapel Hill.
Five of the ACC's seven schools that sponsor men's soccer are ranked in the top 25 including three in the top six. Of the 14 opponents Wake Forest has already played, seven are ranked in this week's Soccer America poll.
Wake Forest (10-0-4, 3-0-2 ACC) and Coastal Carolina (14-0-1) are the only remaining undefeated squads in all of Division I.
The Demon Deacons held steady in the NSCAA poll at number three behind St. John's and UCLA.
The Deacons will put their unbeaten record and number one ranking on the line in two games this week. The first of which is Tuesday at home against Gardner-Webb. On Friday night, the Deacons will travel to Durham to take on Duke. Both games are 7:00 p.m. kickoffs.
