GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest guard Tyson Clabo was named the ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday. It is the third weekly honor earned by a Demon Deacon this season, and second such honor for an offensive lineman.
In its win over Georgia Tech, Wake Forest played 92 offensive snaps for the second week in a row, the most in a game since 1995. Clabo was on the field for all of those snaps, grading out at a team-best 92 percent and recording 15 knockdowns. Normally Wake??s starting left guard, Clabo had to switch between both guard positions for the first time in his career during Saturday??s game. He helped lead an offense which had the ball for nearly 38 minutes and tallied 447 yards - including 209 on the ground - against one of the ACC??s top defensive units. The line also allowed no sacks on the Deacon quarterbacks, a feat it has achieved in three of six games this season.
Clabo joins fellow offensive guard Blake Henry and cornerback Eric King as Wake Forest??s third ACC Player of the Week honoree in 2002.
The Demon Deacons, 3-3 overall and 1-2 in the ACC, host Duke this Saturday at Groves Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
