#7 Women's Soccer Upset by #13 Tennessee

The seventh-ranked Wake Forest women??s soccer team suffered its second loss of the season, falling to No. 13 Tennessee, 2-0, in Spry Stadium. The Demon Deacons move to 10-2-1 on the season, while the Lady Vols improve to 9-3.
Both teams went the first 45 minutes of action without scoring, with Wake keeper Erin Regan tallying two saves in the half to Tennessee keeper Ellen Dean??s one.
Jen Laughridge gave Tennessee its first goal of the game in the 59th minute of action on an assist from Lyndsey Patterson. Kim Patrick added another score at the 73:09 mark to put the Lady Vols up, 2-0. Wake totaled eight shots in the second half, but failed to convert.
Wake Forest outshot Tennessee 10-7, with both teams each having five shots on goal. Katherine Winstead led the team in shots with four, followed by Alena Thom and Joline Charlton with two each. Regan was credited with three saves in 90 minutes of action.
??Its not that we played bad,?? explained coach da Luz. ??We passed the ball well and took a few good shots. We just lacked the passion to score goals tonight. We couldn??t get back on transition and Tennessee capitalized and that was the game.??
Wake Forest will resume conference play on Oct. 12, traveling to Tallahassee to face Florida State at 7:00 pm.
