Wake Forest Head Coach Jim Grobe On the game: "We didn't get the push we needed to get in the second half. Florida State played great defensively. I think they crowded the line of scrimmage a little bit and we needed to throw the ball a little better. We started moving the ball better in the fourth quarter and had good field position until that fumbled punt."
On Derrick Tharpe's fumbled punt return: "Derrick Tharpe does fine in practice. It's kind of like our kicking game at the beginning of the season in that until you put the kid out in front of the crowd you never know how they are going to do. There are no excuses. He's young and he'll get better."
On losing Fabian Davis to injury (hip pointer): "Losing Fabian really hurt us, especially on special teams. We also miss his leadership and experience out on the field."
On any moral victories by the close outcome: "If we had been down and come back to finish with that score we might feel better, but to be ahead and to be in a position to win until right up until the very end hurts."
On Florida State quarterback Adrian McPherson's performance: "He did a real good job of running their offense. We knew he was very athletic and he had a great game."
On Ovie Mughelli's fumble after picking up the blocked field goal: "That one of those crazy kicking game situations. I think that he probably didn't realize that he had gained the first down when he tried to lateral it, or maybe thought that we were out of downs."
On Matt Wisnosky's missed field goal: "It was a high snap on the one he missed, but Jax (Landfried - holder) got it down and he (Wisnosky) hit it good it just didn't get inside the upright."
WFU Offensive Guard Tyson Clabo On having a chance to win the game: "Of course we did. We definitely should have won. Florida State played an excellent second half. I thought our defense played incredible, but when it came down to it, we just couldn't move the ball. We just couldn't score."
WFU Running Back Tarence Williams "We knew they would make adjustments after halftime, but they just came out and beat us in the second half.
"To be honest, I like being down in the first half because it gives you something to come back out and play hard for."
"We really had a chance, just like every other week. They just came back out and beat us."
WFU Wide Receiver Anthony Young "Florida State came out and made big plays and we also shot ourselves in the foot a lot of times.
"We line up in wide formations because they are known for stacking the box. But they kept their defense in tight."
"A lot of people think we aren't a fast team because we're a private school. We also have fast and strong players, we just don't get as many as most schools."
"Just because Fabian (Davis) was out, that gives us no reason to lose this game. We should have stepped up and played harder."
WFU Nose Tackle Montique Sharpe "They didn't expect us to come out and play well, but I think we had a good game."
"This game was more frustrating than the one last year because we actually had a chance to beat them this time."
