Men's Soccer Places Two on NSCAA All-American Teams

Winston-Salem, N.C. -- The National Soccer Coaches Association of America has named to Wake Forest players to its All-America teams. Junior goalkeeper William Hesmer (Wilson, N.C.) was a second team selection while junior midfielder Brian Carroll picked up third team honors.

Hesmer finished the season with a 0.65 goals against average and posted 10 shutouts. Both marks were new Wake Forest single season records.

Carroll was the team's sixth-leading scorer from his midfield position with three goals and eight assists. Carroll started all 21 games for the Deacons.

Both players were first team All-ACC selections for Wake Forest. The Deacons had a record-setting season finishing with a 15-2-4 record, setting new standards for wins in a season. The team went through the regular season undefeated and spent six straight weeks as the nation's top-ranked team.

The Deacons were eliminated from the NCAA Tournament in the round of 16.
