Seattle Bowl, Day 1
Dec. 24, 2002/9:00 p.m. (PT)
We left Winston-Salem around 3:00 today and got here around 6:00 (Pacific time). First of all, on the plane, we had a nice little snack -- some pretzels, cheddar cheese. I stole my seatmate, Cori's (Stukes) pretzels and drink while he was sleeping. He can't do anything about it though, I'm the older one! It was a nice plane ride, not too much turbulence. I went to sleep for about 20 minutes, and the other five hours I was up walking around, playing around, using my video camera. I was taping everything, for good memories to reminisce about when I'm older.
When we got here, we went straight to our hotel and ate dinner. Dinner was good. We had turkey, stuffing, green beans, candied yams. It wasn't Mom's cooking, of course, but it was good. I was hungry - I always stay hungry. Then we got keys to our room - I'm on the seventh floor. I'm rooming with Stukes. We always seem stick together - we were sitting by each other on the plane and now we're rooming together. He talks me to death -- I thought I talked a lot! I'm glad I'm rooming with him, though,we have a lot in common. We're both from Wilmington, and we can relate to each other.
Seattle is very pretty. From my view out the window on the seventh floor, I can see the whole skyline. The street seem pretty quiet right now, but in about 15 minutes my boys and me are going to go out and have some fun and liven things up. We don't have a curfew tonight, so we may be out for a while!
We're here to win a football game and when it time to settle down and get serious we'll be ready to do that, but when you're in a town you've never been to before, you also want to have some fun.
I'm glad it's not raining right now. I heard it's supposed to rain most of the time we're here. Tonight we might just walk around, and check out the sights. I'll take my video camera.
This is my second Christmas being away from home. Our last bowl game we played on Christmas Day in Hawaii. And now, it's Christmas Eve and we're in Seattle. I miss my family, and I know my mother and my whole family misses me, but I think Santa Claus can find us here, too!
To all the Demon Deacon fans: If you're not coming out to game, I hope you watch us on TV. I have a good feeling about this game, my teammates and I are looking forward to doing some great things. I hope all of you Deacons fans have a great Christmas! Pray for us ... Go Deacs!
