Wake Forest is ranked second behind Stanford in the first Division I NACDA Director's Cup standings of the 2002-03 year.
In the 10th anniversary of the Director's Cup, Wake Forest is ranked second on the strength of winning the NCAA field hockey championship and finishing ninth in the NCAA women's cross country championship. Wake Forest is just 27 points behind Stanford through three events. WFU is followed by Colorado, Michigan State and Michigan.
The standings are based on the completion of men's and women's cross country and field hockey.
The NACDA Director's Cup as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 20 sports - 10 men's and 10 women's. National champions in each sport are awarded 100 points.
