Josh Howard Named ACC Player Of The Week

Wake Forest??s Josh Howard, who scored a career-high 31 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and handed out three assists in the Demon Deacons?? 90-80 win at 23rd-ranked Wisconsin Wednesday night, has been named the ACC Player of the Week by a voting panel of the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association.
The win over Wisconsin sealed the Commissioner's Cup for the ACC and the Deacons were the only team in the nine-game event to win on the road. Howard, a 6-6, senior forward from Winston-Salem, N.C., made 12-of-19 shots against the Badgers, including 3-of-5 from three-point range.
Howard is averaging 21.7 points and 10.3 rebounds per game for the 3-0 Deacons. He ranks among the ACC leaders in 10 of 12 individual statistical categories.
Georgia Tech's Chris Bosh was named the ACC Rookie of the Week.
Wake Forest resumes play Dec. 15 against SMU at Lawrence Joel Coliseum (6:47 p.m. tip/Fox Sports Net).
