ACC Women's Basketball Tournament Set For This Weekend

The bracket for the 2002 ACC Women??s Basketball Tournament has been announced, and the Wake Forest women's basketball team, the seventh seed, will face eighth-seeded Maryland in an opening round game on Friday, March 1. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m. at the Greensboro (N.C.) Coliseum.
The game will not be televised, but will be on the radio locally in the Winston-Salem area on WBRF, 98.1 FM and on the internet at WakeForestSports.com.
The winner of the Wake Forest-Maryland game will face second-seeded North Carolina on Saturday, March 2 at 4:30 p.m. in a game televised on the ACC regional sports network.
The Demon Deacons closed out the regular season with a 12-15 record, their best in five seasons. Their 5-11 mark in league play was the best since the 1995-96 campaign.
Friday??s game marks the fifth meeting between Wake Forest and Maryland in the ACC Tournament, with Maryland owning a 4-1 lead in the tournament series. The two teams split their regular season meetings this year, with the Deacs winning 65-47 over the Terps in yesterday??s regular season finale.
