Bianca Brown Named ACC Player of the Week

Greensboro, N.C. - Wake Forest women??s basketball player Bianca Brown was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday. It was the first such honor for the Demon Deacon sophomore point guard.
Brown came off the bench to provide an offensive spark for Wake Forest in its 64-61 victory over Georgia Tech in Atlanta on Sunday. The win marked the Deacs?? first ACC road victory in two seasons and was its first win in Atlanta since the 1989-90 campaign. Brown poured in a game high and career-best 20 points, shooting 6-of-7 from the field, including 4-of-4 from three-point range. The Montclair, N.J. product was also 4-of-4 from the free throw line and had four rebounds and a blocked shot in 23 minutes of action.
Brown also scored five points on 2-of-2 shooting in Wake's earlier game at NC State (a 69-57 loss on Thursday). She also had three rebounds, an assist, and a steal in 18 minutes of action against the Wolfpack.
For the week, Brown averaged 12.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and shot 89 percent (8-of-9) from the field (including a perfect 5-of-5 from beyond the arc) in a reserve role. The Deacs improved to 10-11 overall, 4-7 in the ACC, and has posted its highest number of conference victories in six seasons.
