Demon Deacons Can't Slow Down Duke, 83-60

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) -- Alana Beard scored nine of her 15 points during a 16-2 run in the first half, and No. 5 Duke beat Wake Forest 83-60 Thursday night to clinch a share of the Atlantic Coast Conference title.
Duke (20-3, 12-0) has won 10 straight games and 16 of 17. The Blue Devils have won 20 straight against Wake Forest and last lost to the Demon Deacons in the 1993 ACC tournament.
Tonia Brown led Wake Forest (10-12, 4-8) with 17 points and four assists. Bianca Brown added 11 points.
Duke's Iciss Tillis had 15 points, six rebounds and four assists. Michelle Matyasovsky had 15 points and seven rebounds.
Duke made 18 of 31 shots to take a 45-30 halftime lead.
Wake Forest was within 22-17, but Beard had a 3-pointer and three straight fastbreak layups in a span of 1:04 as Duke pushed the lead to 38-19 with 4:52 left.
Duke outscored Wake Forest 44-22 inside and shot 53 percent.
