WIST-FM (98.3), "Timeless Classics" of High Point, has joined the Wake Forest ISP Sports Radio Network and will carry live broadcasts of all Demon Deacon football and men's basketball games beginning this fall.
In addition, the station will carry the "Deacon Sportspage" call-in shows featuring football coach Jim Grobe and men's basketball coach Skip Prosser throughout the year.
"We are delighted to have WIST as part of the Wake Forest ISP Sports Radio Network family," Ron Wellman, WFU director of athletics, says. "This addition to our list of affiliates provides the coverage that we desire locally and along the I-85 corridor. We look forward to a long and productive relationship with them."
Demon Deacon programming on WIST-FM began this week (Wednesday, August 21) with the inaugural "Deacon Sportspage" for the 2002 football season. The Deacs' first game is Thursday, August 29, at Northern Illinois. Kickoff for that contest is 7:30 p.m. with the pregame show airing at 6:30.
"We are very excited with the opportunity to become part of Deacon football and basketball through our broadcasts of Wake Forest games and coaches shows," Stan Thomas, general manager of WIST-FM, says. "We are also very proud to be associated with a university that has such a strong tradition and is an integral part of our region."
ISP Sports, the exclusive multimedia rightsholder for WFU Athletics, is based in Winston-Salem. The company also manages radio networks for Georgia Tech, Marshall, Southern Mississippi, Tulane, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech, covering 11 states and listing nearly 200 affiliates among its total network membership.
