#13 Women's Soccer Ready To Attack Wildcats

The Davidson Wildcats (1-2) roll into Spry Stadium on Tuesday to face #13 Wake Forest (4-0). The undefeated Deacs are coming off of a 3-1 home win over the Georgia Bulldogs. The match was the first home victory of the season for Wake. Davidson stands at 1-2 after losses to Charlotte and South Carolina and a win over the Citadel.
Deacs Unleash on Bulldogs
Wake Forest won their fourth game of the season as they defeated Georgia 3-1 in the home opener at Spry Stadium. The win over the Bulldogs gave the Demon Deacons a perfect record of 4-0.
The first half was all Wake Forest as they outshot the Bulldogs 13-1. Junior Katherine Winstead scored the only two goals of the half, the first within the first nine minutes of play and the second at the 40:33 mark. Assisting Winstead on the first goal were Alena Thom and Alli Hunt, with Thom helping again on Winstead's second game-winning goal attempt. The Bulldogs tried to come back in the second half with Ashley King scoring a goal from Geneil Newborn, but the Deacs proved to be too much. Sara Creighton scored on another assist from Thom with 50:51 left to put Wake up 3-1.
For the game, Wake Forest tallied 22 shots including 13 shots on goal to Georgia's 10 shots and six shots on goal. Deacon goalie Erin Regan recorded five saves for the game in 90 minutes of action.
Davidson Wildcats
After losing their first two games of the season, Davidson defeated the Citadel 6-0 on Saturday, September 7. The previous loses came at the hands of Charlotte, who beat Davidson 3-2 and South Carolina, who shutout the Wildcats 3-0. The Wildcats travel to Wake to face their first road game of the year.
Poll Appearance
After starting the season 4-0, the Wake Forest women's soccer team has climbed the NSCAA poll and is currently ranked 13th. The Deacs debuted in the first poll of the season at 16th, which was released on September 2, 2002.

Wake Forest has dominated the field this season, leading their opponents in every category. The Deacs have outshot opponents 80-23, including 47 shots on goal to their opponents?? 10. Wake has scored 13 goals on the season and only allowed two. The Deacs have held opponents to six points while tallying 42. Wake has recorded 16 assists on the season as well.

Up Next: adidas Invitational Wake Forest will host the adidas Invitational this coming weekend, September 13-15. The tournament will feature Wake Forest, along with Loyola Marymount, USC and Vanderbilt. Friday??s games with match up USC against Vanderbilt and Wake against Loyola Marymount at 7:30. Sunday??s matches pair up Loyola Maryount and Vanderbilt at 11: am and the Deacs against USC at 1:00pm.
Getting To Spry Stadium At the I-40/Business-40 split, take Business-40 towards downtown Winston-Salem. Take the Cherry Street exit and proceed north through the downtown area. Cherry Street then becomes University Parkway. Continue past Joel Coliseum on the right and then bear left at the fork in the road. Approximately one mile past the Coliseum, take the Polo Road exit and make a left turn on Polo Road. Spry Stadium will be 1/2 mile ahead on the left. Turn left onto campus at the stoplight and take the first road to the right to access the parking lot. No parking pass is necessary.
