The Georgia Bulldogs (1-1) roll into Spry Stadium on Friday to face #16 Wake Forest (3-0). The undefeated Deacs are coming off of a shutout road win over Elon. Wake beat the Phoenix 5-0 on Tuesday. Georgia received their first win of the 2002 season, defeating Georgia State 3-0 September 3.
Deacs Blast Phoenix
The Wake Forest women??s soccer team was victorious on the road against Elon, shutting out the Phoenix 5-0. The win leaves the Deacs undefeated as they approach their first home game at Spry Stadium.
Wake Forest dominated the field for the entire game, with two goals coming in the first half and the rest in the second. Alena Thom led Wake??s scoring efforts with two goals. Katie Johnson, Katherine Winstead and Gabi Lieb each contributed to the shutout as well. The first Demon Deacon goal came at the 11:47 mark of the first half by Thom, with help from Alli Hunt and Sarah Kozey. After a kick-in by Johnson, the score was 2-0, ending the first period of action. Thom scored again in the second half, along with Winstead at the 55:24 mark and Lieb at the 88:52 mark.
The Deacs outshot the Phoenix 28-3, with Thom and Winstead having five apiece. Sarah Kozey and Sarah Creighton totaled four shots, while Johnson and Lieb had three. Melanie Schneider took two shots for the game and A.B. Robbins and Joline Charlton had one each.
Georgia Bulldogs
The Bulldogs are coming off an 3-0 victory over rival Georgia State. The Bulldogs (1-1-0) tallied their first shutout and first victory of the 2002 season. Clemson handed Georgia their first defeat of the season, beating the Bulldogs 3-2 in overtime.
Poll Appearence
After starting off the season 2-0, the Deacs appear at the 16th spot in the NSCAA/adidas poll. The poll came out on September 2 after the first weekend of action of the 2002 season. Wake Forest did not appear in any preseason polls.
Records Watch
The 2002 season could be a record-breaking year as a couple of Demon Deacons are climbing their way up the charts.

Kozey Tapped ACC Player of the Week
Wake Forest freshman midfielder Sarah Kozey was named Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week after leading the Demon Deacons to consecutive victories over Oregon and Oregon State.
In her first appearance as a Demon Deacon, Kozey took four shots and contributed one goal in Wake Forest??s shutout performance over Oregon. During the Deac??s 2-1 win over Oregon State, the freshman tallied five shots and one assist.
Kozey is a native of Halifax, Nova Scotia where she was a member of the Canadian National U-19 team and the 2002 U-19 World Cup squad. Other honors for Kozey include 2001-02 Nova Scotia Female Soccer Athlete of the Year, 2001 Canada Games team member and a four-time Atlantic All-Star selection.

Getting To Spry Stadium
At the I-40/Business-40 split, take Business-40 towards downtown Winston-Salem. Take the Cherry Street exit and proceed north through the downtown area. Cherry Street then becomes University Parkway. Continue past Joel Coliseum on the right and then bear left at the fork in the road. Approximately one mile past the Coliseum, take the Polo Road exit and make a left turn on Polo Road. Spry Stadium will be 1/2 mile ahead on the left. Turn left onto campus at the stoplight and take the first road to the right to access the parking lot. No parking pass is necessary.
